ABE:Labs, part of Genesis Analytics, was contracted to develop the curriculum and present a masterclass to be delivered virtually over a year. The course was delivered to a cohort of employees from Standard Bank South Africa, one of the country’s biggest and most established financial institutions. The course was originally delivered in person but, post-pandemic, the company requested that the 2022 course move to the online realm. Tight lead times and staffing changes resulted in Genesis needing to subcontract the modules on behavioural design, customer journey mapping, and the design and development of digital behavioural interventions.
Studio Fundi developed and delivered the behavioural design modules and presented sessions on choice architecture, nudging, customer journey mapping, pain-point identification and intervention design. We introduced the students to Miro, the online whiteboarding software, and worked with them to design customer journey maps in their own lives and within the context of the bank.
We also designed a session introducing participants to the basics of behavioural design, user experience, and how to use behavioural economics and design to leverage brand loyalty. Students were engaged and participated in all the activities. We facilitated interesting debates on the relevance of nudging and the factors that make good user experience design.
